 Teacher Alan always picks the right song for me. The conversations we have about music are very interesting, and he can answer all the questions I have about the ukulele. It's really fun taking lessons from him. 

 Alan is a truly gifted teacher -- his passion for music is infectious, he understands how kids learn and are motivated, and he makes it really fun. I've been impressed how much my daughter, who is 9, has learned in only a year of lessons -- she can now play chords independently while reading music and loves getting to sing real songs. I would highly recommend Kite Hill Studio for beginners and seasoned students alike. 

 Alan has been my guitar teacher for 5 years. At the start I had no experience with sheet music and no classical background. Now I am working on advanced pieces like La Catadral, Recuerdos de la Alhambra and others. As an instructor Alan is very methodical with a strong emphasis on the development of musicality. Interpretation plays a major part in his educational approach. I greatly enjoy his style of teaching and his knowledge of music in general. And,…he is a very nice person who is able to get the best out of his students. I will continue lessons with Alan for the foreseeable future!

 My daughter started taking lessons from Alan during the pandemic.  It’s been two years now, and we couldn’t be happier.  My daughter is playing classical guitar and has progressed so much under his guidance.  Alan is extremely patient and teaches her as much about technique as he does musicality and theory.  He challenges her and inspires her to become a better and well rounded musician. 

Listening to my daughter practice inspired me to give it a shot.  I had taken guitar lessons over 20 years ago, but had forgotten much of what I learned.  Alan has been so encouraging and patient with me, for as my daughter says “old people take a lot longer to learn new things.”  I enjoy our weekly lessons together.  Alan is kind and generous with his time.  Learning guitar can be overwhelming but Alan breaks things down and explains things in different ways so that I can grasp concepts better.  He is extremely knowledgeable and fun to be around and we feel so fortunate to have him as our teacher!
